This is a personal website not a professional website
Note that this website is not my professional website, ie. it does not represent an official body of work of mine nor is it representative of my professional life which is distinctly separate from this project. The work that I have done on the VFF-project, and the manner in which I present it, were ever since the very start meant to be in the form of an interactive and documentary style which I have intentionally crafted to being accessible to a wider range of audience. That is why I have had a very personal approach, and employed a simpler language.
In my professional sphere, I am a double-major undergraduate student of Chemistry and Physics and am headed toward a career as a research scientist in the development of new medical technologies. Science, the way that it is conducted, and the way that it is written, may seem "over-the-head", complicated, dry and boring, and inaccessible to the majority. Meanwhile, the inquiry and investigation into the areas of the paranormal and skepticism are specifically valuable to all and most especially to those who are un-initiated to the sciences, who are more likely to fall victim to the allure of woo. That is why I have maintained a very low-key accessible style to my VFF-project.
What is VisionFromFeeling?
VisionFromFeeling is what I call my sensory experience of an abstract and artificial felt tactile nature which translates into a secondary and corresponding visual experience. In other words, when I look at the world, I feel patterns across things, but I also see those patterns in my mind. This is a typical expression of synesthesia, which is when a person experiences additional and synthetic sensory experience, which is an entirely subjective and arbitrary construct. For example, some persons with synesthesia will look at things (visual), but instead of only seeing the things they are also tasting it, or hearing a sound, yet neither the taste nor sound was really there.
So, synesthesia is when a person experiences something from the real world that is really there, and that real experience translates into an artificial one that is experienced with a different sense. A real scent can translate into an unreal sound. Or a real visual intake can translate into an unreal feeling. There are many ways in which the senses can be connected. In my case, when I look at things I first feel something which is artificial, I then experience a secondary artifact that is visual in nature. So I call it Vision From Feeling, yet it is more correctly the case of Vision From Feeling From Vision, or Vision to Feeling to Vision.
What is the purpose of this?
Ever since the "vision from feeling" begun about 15 years ago, I started noticing strange correlation between what I saw and with actual health information in people. This led me to a many-year long investigation to find out not only what the correlation really is, but what its sources may be - an investigation which is still ongoing to some extent. The work that has been involved has been in the form of studies and tests (see http://www.visionfromfeeling.com/healthperceptions.html), and with the purpose of answering those questions, as well as learning more about the phenomenon of vision from feeling and about the skeptical inquiry of the paranormal in general. I also wanted to share this journey with others in the form of this website, which acts as a documentary. Open and honest insight into a case of paranormal investigation, which in addition is conducted by the claimant as the skeptic, is rare if not previously non-existent. I want to show skepticism what a paranormal claim may be all about and why reasons for its inquiry may be justified, and I also wanted to show the paranormal why skepticism is important and how it is applied.
Why the white peacock?
It is a funny and illustrative example of how even skeptics will fall into the humanly natural belief of false assumptions, that skeptics and other persons who are not familiar with my VFF-project from the very start have assumed that I use the white peacock as the symbol for VFF because the peacock symbolizes vanity, and this assumption then led people to calling me vain, narcissistic and egocentric, because why else would anybody have the peacock as their symbol?
Rather, when I was a member of the JREF Forum I wanted to find a cute picture to have as my Avatar. Loving light more than anything, I entered "light being" into Google to see what kind of white animals might show up. I have always loved light both for its metaphysical, mystical and spiritual aspects as well as for its scientific and am studying to specialize in the physics of light. One of the animals that showed up was the white peacock. I also liked it being a bird and having feathers, since another of the things I like is Angels, and Angels have feathers in their wings. So the white peacock merged my love for light and Angels. Quite far from the guess of symbolizing narcissism or vanity. So we see, that even skeptics fall for the tricks of their mind.
I have been drafting on new website designs, but I think that the white peacock will always have to stay. It's been here since the very beginning, and it started when I chose a picture for my Avatar to symbolize light and Angels combined. I hope that makes the white peacock seem less of a confusing arbitrary choice, as it seems to have no apparent connection to any of the content on this website.
